Tip 4, Baby Steps: How To Succeed At Big 4 Dieting (Paleo, Keto, AIP, SCD)

Like many things in life we must learn to roll before we crawl and crawl before we walk. It isn’t much different when pursuing a Big 4 Diet (Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), Paleo, Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) Keto diets). Whether we are looking to help remedy an autoimmune disease, lose weight, or just improve our health in general, many of us want the results now! The world we live in wants faster shipping, on demand shows, and lighting fast Wi-Fi but lasting change takes time.

At the beginning of each year people make New Year’s resolutions to attend the gym each day and have an AIP/Paleo grass-fed beef protein powder supplement shake after each visit. However, a few weeks later these people are burnt out and later find themselves resenting the gym and anything connected to it! We may know someone like this or, heck, it could be us! Healing takes time and persistence and the only way we can be successful is if we begin with what our mind can handle. It took two years before Anne was finally able to see the results she was seeking so the Baby Step approach will help us get where we want to be.

To begin we need to look into our mind’s eye and see how we’d eat and act once we arrive to our destination. Then we must write down that “perfect” routine we hope to achieve. Once we have this perfect paleo, AIP, Keto, or SCD routine written down we divide it by 5, 10, or 15 until we know it is something we can do. This gives us a place to start or a baseline. If we look at our simple example above, perhaps we only hit the gym once a week and have that paleo/aip shake afterwards to start and build from there.

Now that we know where we are going and how we begin we need to strengthen our foundation so we can push ourselves toward our healthy diet goals. We need to sleep enough, relax/decompress daily, stretch often, and ask help from others. Once we’ve had these actions in place for at least two weeks we can begin to slowly increase our effort every other week. So if we decided to start with working out once a week with a paleo/aip shake afterwards then maybe we do it twice a week after two successful weeks or we include another portion of our goal.

As we take small steps toward our better self we will feel greater empowerment to finally achieve our ultimate goal even if it takes years. We can do it!
