HOW TO GET YOUR FAMILY ON BOARD WITH PALEO DIET?

Most of the people suffering from autoimmune conditions try to improve their health condition by following a healthier diet that helps them heal. Predominantly, going paleo or AIP is the first choice in the journey.

Theautoimmune protocol or AIP diet helps reduce the inflammation in your gut by healing the lining of your intestines, calming your immune system, and promoting healing.
At this point, you might feel overwhelmed and wondering how to manage your special diet while cooking for the rest of the family. It may seem like you are running a restaurant on a daily basis.

First, you need to take care of yourself and get your health on track. Like the airplane oxygen mask, you need to make sure you are well before you can tend to others. You will be able to tend to your family better when you allow yourself to heal and alleviate your symptoms. Let your family members know the benefits of the paleo and AIP diet and its role in your health.

One of the biggest hurdles most families face in this situation is that they have to give up their favorite food. However, you'll be glad to know that there are a lot of paleo-friendly foods and delicious recipes to pick from. Do a little research to find a healthy alternative that will be just as tasty but even better for you in the long run.

Below are some helpful tips to help the transition for you and your family to the paleo and AIP diet.

  1. Slowly switch your family over to Paleo foods:
Start avoiding foods that are processed, high in salt and refined sugar.
  2. Discuss with your family the benefits of eating paleo:
Share your experience with your family members and explain to them how they will feel and look better by eating fresh nutritious food.
  3. Be a role model:
Your children will learn from you by watching you make the right choices. This goes for health and pretty much everything else.
  4. Be prepared to negotiate and make concessions:
Adapting to a healthy diet could be a bit difficult for some, especially younger kids. Help them realize that this diet removes the food that contain preservatives, chemicals, and many additives that are prone to cause negative effects on the body. As they start living the diet, you and they will find that health will improve and everyone will feel better. They’ll feel lighter, more energetic, and often happier.
  5. Be sure to have healthy snacks on hand at home:
Your family typically wants a snack when they return home so give them the healthy and tastiest options to munch on.
  6. Show your family that eating paleo can be yummy:
When you add colorful ingredients to your meals and attempt some basic plate styling it will go a long way towards winning your family over.
  7. Your family members will come to realize the difference between fresh food and junk food:
After some time, the benefits of eating healthy, unprocessed, nutrient-dense food will become evident for your family.
  8. Praise your family members for their good choices:
Give your family members some positive-reinforcement for their food and life choices.
  9. It’s okay to have a cheat day:
When you have teens or tweens at home, let them enjoy their favorite food once in a while on the weekend.

Embracing a healthy lifestyle can be difficult, but it can be much easier with the support of your family. We wish you and your family well while you enjoy this paleo journey!!
