Healthy Actions Equals Easier Dieting

In many of our blog posts we have discussed several diets including the Paleo, AIP (Autoimmune Protocol), SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet), and Keto diets. They all serve similar purposes but can be difficult to start and continue. However, there are several things we can do to help our transition into our newly chosen lifestyle.

In our lives we have all probably heard someone decline a certain food while declaring, “I’m on a diet”...perhaps we have thought to say, “Well, frankly, we are all on a diet!” Some of us may be on the Standard American Diet (SAD) where we eat loads of processed foods, fats, and carbs but nonetheless it is a diet. What we need to understand is that when we choose Paleo, AIP, SCD, or Keto diet we need to remove the notion that it is a short-term decision. Our diets and needs can morph through time but when we drastically change our diet for specific health reasons (like those on the AIP and SCD diet) or general health reason (like those on the Paleo and Keto diet) it must be a full lifestyle change. We will feel the tip of the spear but that difficulty can be lessened by amping up the health in other areas of our lives.

If we stress too much, don’t get enough sleep, or over/under exercise then our efforts to successfully transition into the Paleo, AIP, SCD or Keto diet will most likely fail. Let’s quickly hit each of these points.

When we stress for whatever reason we can quickly slide into old habits or indulge on sugar cravings. This happens because when we overstress our brains will search for a way to decompress by finding a food or activity to ease tension and/or delivers endorphins to our brains. This often translates into some tasty sugary treat. This can also be triggered if we workout too much or don’t go to bed on time to get a healthy amount of sleep.

This can be solved if we plan time to decompress. Take a walk during the workday, read a good book for 10 minutes or find something that will ease the tension of the day. Even taking a little time for a light workout could do the trick. Sleep can do wonders…we can’t be tempted to stay out late with friends or family if we know we have to be up early the next day. Lifestyle changes take discipline and it isn’t all about the foods we eat.

Autoimmune Health & Nutrition can’t make you go to bed early or take time for yourself but we can make it easy to enjoy some Paleo, AIP, SCD, and Keto diet compliant protein supplements that could very well ease your stress about your diet of choice. It is grass-fed beef protein powder with an organic superfood blend which should match nicely with your diet. Best of luck! #autoimmunehn
